Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026
The short version: PeakTrail does not have a server. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data. Your activities, routes, heart rate, and location data stay on your device. We do not require an account. This page explains the third-party services the app contacts and what they can see.
1. Data We Store
PeakTrail stores all data locally on your device using on-device storage (SQLite database and app preferences). This includes:
- GPS recordings (location, speed, elevation, timestamps)
- Heart rate and cadence data (from BLE sensors or Health Connect)
- Saved routes and waypoints
- App settings and preferences
- Cached map tiles for offline use
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share it. Uninstalling the app deletes all stored data.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not operate any servers. We do not collect, receive, or process:
- Your name, email, or any account information (no accounts exist)
- Analytics or usage tracking data
- Crash reports sent to a remote server (crash logs are stored locally only)
- Your location, activities, or health data on any remote system

5. Permissions
PeakTrail requests the following permissions on your device:
- Location (foreground + background): To record GPS tracks while the app is open and while your screen is locked during recording

- Export: Export your activities as GPX files at any time
- No data portability request needed: Your data is already on your device
