By downloading and using PeakTrail ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
PeakTrail is a free, open-source fitness tracking application for recording GPS-based outdoor activities including walking, running, hiking, and cycling. The app stores all data locally on your device. No account is required.
PeakTrail is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. The app relies on your device's GPS hardware, sensors, and third-party services (map tiles, weather, routing) that may be unavailable or inaccurate. We do not guarantee:
PeakTrail is a fitness tracking tool, not a navigation device. Do not rely solely on this app for navigation in remote or hazardous terrain. Always carry appropriate maps, a dedicated GPS device, and safety equipment. The app is not a substitute for proper outdoor preparedness, training, or judgement.
Outdoor activities carry inherent risks including injury, death, and getting lost. You are solely responsible for your safety while using this app.
PeakTrail uses map data from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL license), weather data from Open-Meteo (CC-BY 4.0), and routing from OpenRouteService. We are not responsible for the accuracy or availability of third-party data.
Strava segment data, when displayed, is sourced from public Strava segment pages. Strava is a trademark of STRAVA, Inc. PeakTrail is not affiliated with or endorsed by Strava.
PeakTrail can display heart rate, cadence, and calorie data from Bluetooth sensors and Google Health Connect. This data is for informational purposes only and is not medical advice. Consult a healthcare professional before beginning any exercise program.
PeakTrail is free and open-source software. The app is provided at no cost. We accept voluntary donations to support ongoing development. Donations are not payment for goods or services and do not unlock any features. All features are available to all users regardless of whether they donate.
You agree not to:
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PeakTrail's authors and contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to injury, property damage, data loss, or getting lost due to inaccurate GPS or mapping data.
PeakTrail's source code is released under the MIT License. You are free to inspect, modify, and redistribute the source code subject to the terms of that license.
We may update these terms as the app evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
